Sutton's Council on Aging board nominated two members to interview candidates for the town's next center director. Town Manager Austin Saganow told the board 26 people have applied since longtime director Michelle left the post, and HR Director Aaron Shanafi is assisting the search; Saganow said he will narrow the field to two finalists before an appointment goes to the Select Board for ratification, a step roughly a month out. Outreach coordinator Tim, who has been running daily operations with staff members DJ, Rayna and Rosemary, said "I've had people in the past who sold their bedroom furniture so they could pay for oil for their house." Rosemary, presenting for the Friends of Sutton Elders, said the group helps seniors "from time to time," especially with fuel.
Board members also noted residents over 60 are Sutton's fastest-growing population.
