Mendon Council on Aging reports record food pantry donations, weighs grant deadlines. Director Amy Wilson Kent said the pantry took in $5,375 in December, including $3,479 from eight personal donors and $1,900 from four businesses, on top of $568.25 in anonymous gifts to the separate COA gift account. "This is a very unprecedented year.

We received more food this year than we did during the pandemic," Wilson Kent said. The board is eyeing a National Council on Aging technology grant worth up to $10,000 and an AARP Community Challenge sidewalk grant due March 4. Van drivers Wayne Phipps and Paul Sarah now serve more than 25 regular riders.

A town-wide ADA self-evaluation, with survey responses due January 30, flagged the center's stairs-only second floor as a concern. The board unanimously accepted December's minutes.
