Other Committee · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Shrewsbury's Community Preservation Committee approved $107,960 for a tricentennial native tree-planting pilot project in Dean Park and the town's playing fields. Residents Gretchen Schulz-Ellison, a Tipping Point 01545 member, and Paul Dobner, of 23 Alma Circle, spoke in support during a public hearing, with Dobner citing past town plantings of 15 trees at Mountain View Cemetery and five on the Town Common. One committee member recused from the funding vote over a project affiliation.

Staff also told the committee that the town manager's office has barred all financial warrant articles, including CPC items, from the December 2026 town meeting over tax-rate-setting concerns, pushing remaining CPC business to the May 2027 annual town meeting. The committee separately approved its Community Preservation Plan for 2026 and moved its December meeting to December 14 at 6:30 p.m.
