Select Board · Meeting of July 27, 2026

North Brookfield Select Board sets Aug. 11 special town meeting on fire chief funding and lighting upgrades. The board voted unanimously to approve a six-article warrant transferring fire department salary accounts to fund a restructured chief position and moving capital stabilization funds toward library and police station LED lighting projected to save $14,971 and $4,000 a year, respectively, thanks to an energy audit resident Roger Brooks ran with Guardian Energy. The board separately reviewed, but did not vote on, a $313,346 Mass Broken Stone quote to repave part of Spring Street under Chapter 90, after member Ralph pressed staff on a cost-escalation clause that could push the total to $321,646.30: "Okay, can you, before, can we get that pinned down?" The board also approved $773 to inspect two unused shop lifts, $2,070 for a truck spindle repair, and a $2,850 fire department network-storage upgrade, and accepted a senior-center coffee creamer donation from resident Karen Farrington.
