Select Board pulls private road plowing from warrant
Select Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026
Hubbardston Select Board pulls Plum Tree Lane plowing from its fall warrant after an impasse over a private road. The board voted unanimously to keep a plowing article off the October 27 Special Town Meeting warrant after residents and officials spent nearly an hour debating who should fix the road; DPW Director Travis said the town's contractor refuses to plow it, saying "it falls on you guys, not the town." Resident Ed Blanchard proposed the town legally acquire the defunct developer's title to bypass tax-title proceedings. Separately, Interim Town Administrator Tim walked the board through an 11-article warrant closing a nearly $275,000 budget deficit, including $16,826.38 in unpaid bills, a $50,000 emergency utility reserve and $150,000 drawn from the town's $750,000 stabilization account.
"It would have devastated this town," Tim said of deeper cuts the town avoided.
