Select Board Adds TC Passios Demolition Question to Warrant

Select Board · Meeting of October 6, 2026

Lunenburg Select Board adds non-binding TC Passios demolition question to Nov. 17 warrant. The board voted unanimously to place the advisory question on the Special Town Meeting warrant, asking residents whether the town should pursue demolition of the shuttered T.C. Passios building, subject to review by the Architectural Preservation District Commission.

Clerk Glenn McLeod pushed back on a broader plan to consolidate town offices at the Ritter Building, saying he wants "more justification" before going beyond basic accessibility fixes, while Vice Chair Brian Lehtinen said the design committee is "trying to get low cost." The board tabled a $195,830 Gale Engineering contract for Middle High School track and field design after members objected that it bypassed the Capital Planning Committee, which fielded $3.26 million in requests against an $1.83 million budget last cycle. Election officials also switched the Nov. 3 polling site from the Middle High School cafeteria to its gymnasium after the cafeteria proved too small for four precincts.
