Sturbridge Select Board kept a single tax rate for fiscal 2027 and ratified a new police contract.
Select Board · Meeting of August 17, 2026
Sturbridge Select Board kept a single tax rate for fiscal 2027 and ratified a new police contract. Principal Assessor Ann Murphy presented data showing the average single-family home assessed at $522,949, and the board voted unanimously against a split tax rate, a residential exemption and a small commercial exemption. Members separately approved a three-year Sturbridge Police Association contract with 2 percent annual raises, seniority steps and a new fitness stipend, with one negotiator calling the talks "a very respectable table." The board also capped spending on a Ventrac snow-removal machine at $100,000, choosing it over pricier options, and approved $58,900 for PFOS testing at Wells 1, 3 and 5 and a $30,000 design contract for the Church Street Water Tank shed.
A one-day liquor license drew one abstention.
