Select Board Approves Paving List, Adds 3 Streets
Select Board · Meeting of July 15, 2026
West Boylston Select Board approves a long-stalled road paving list after adding three streets left off for cost reasons. Vice Chair David Ashwell pressed on why a nearly identical list went nowhere two years ago, prompting new Town Administrator Michael Ward, three weeks into the job, to commit to quarterly status updates. The board approved $35,000 to cover unexpected DPW trash tipping fees and $45,000 for Personal Care/EMS overtime, the second such overtime transfer in four months, with Ashwell warning the total was "nearing a hundred thousand dollars in overage." Two sewer abatement requests, including one for $1,500, were tabled pending updated meter data rather than decided outright.
The board also ratified a new Senior Center custodian, a Historical Commission appointee, and continued a compliance dispute involving a company called Humboldt Masters after it retained new legal counsel.
