Select Board · Meeting of January 6, 2026

Southborough Select Board approved a liquor license for Lalo's Mexican Kitchen Bar and Grill and warned the fiscal 2027 budget gap has nearly doubled to $1.9 million. Attorney Christopher Flood told the board the owners, Vanessa Seja and Gerardo Guzman, already run two other Lalo's locations in Hudson and Marlborough. The board also approved a National Grid utility pole on Lovers Lane and corrected an 85-cent ARPA accounting error, adjusting a trail-upgrade fund to $97,803.81 and a fire equipment fund to $32,340.09.

A town budget presenter, identified only as Brian, said capital requests have climbed to nearly $2.8 million and called the deficit "about double what you're seeing right on that page there." The board voted 5-0 by roll call to enter executive session on union bargaining strategy, and agreed to add library and IT budget reviews to its Jan. 24 session.
