School Committee reelects Wilbur chair, ratifies custodial contract

School Committee · Meeting of May 14, 2026

Millbury School Committee reorganizes, reelects Wilbur as chair and ratifies a new custodial union contract. Meeting for the first time since April's town election, the committee voted 4-0 to keep Christopher Wilbur as chairperson and elect Jessica Bristol vice chairperson, with member Jessica Bristol absent for the vote. The board also ratified a three-year SEIU Local 888 agreement covering custodians, secretaries and cafeteria staff, unanimously approved by union members before reaching the committee.

Spanish teacher Christine Tuomala won preliminary 4-0 approval to plan a 2028 trip to France, Switzerland and Germany costing $4,700 to $5,000 per student, after a member raised concerns over a prior trip's refund handling, saying "we had a lot of angry parents." The committee also authorized five-year vendor contracts for copier and WiFi services and reappointed Dr. Archal Aggerwal as school physician.
