School Committee · Meeting of October 21, 2026
GRAFTON — The Grafton School Committee backed five Massachusetts Association of School Committees resolutions and reversed a prior policy vote amid conflicting MASC guidance. Members voted 5-0 on four resolutions covering school "safe zones," vocational and school-building-authority representation, and seclusion standards, and 4-0 with Kristy Kielbasinski abstaining on a fifth concerning regional special education reserve funds. Superintendent Dr. Cummings recommended filing statements of interest with the Massachusetts School Building Authority for South Grafton Elementary and North Street Elementary roofs, citing potential reimbursement of "between 50 and 53 percent." The committee also voted 5-0 to rescind its acceptance of an updated nondiscrimination policy after Kielbasinski found MASC's reference manual listed a conflicting effective date, calling it "a major problem" if MASC changed the policy without notifying districts.
The Grafton Middle School roof's Section H contract came in under its roughly $1.1 million estimate.
