Rutland Planning Board Loses Staff, Meeting Space in Simultaneous July 1 Crisis

Planning Board · Meeting of June 23, 2026

Rutland Planning Board votes to cut subdivision tree count and scrambles to replace departing staff before July 1. The board approved a reduction in required street trees on Pioneer Circle in the Bryce Lemon Estates subdivision from 38 to 36, resolving a homeowner complaint that had drawn in the Select Board and Town Administrator, and endorsed an Approval Not Required lot division at 199 Glenwood Road for property owner Leroy Clark. Acting Chair Timothy Nahrwold, filling in for absent Chair Norman Anderson, disclosed that the board's sole administrator, Tamika, has accepted a new position, and that the library building will be unavailable for Tuesday meetings beginning July 1 because the Library Board of Trustees has granted a meeting-hours exception to the Select Board only.

The board agreed to post a part-time administrative position at a bi-weekly stipend of $150 to $250 and to establish a per-diem consulting arrangement with town engineer Kevin Quinn using the approximately $21,000 remaining in the current town appropriation. An introductory presentation by solar developer Diversia on a proposed agrivoltaic installation on Pleasantdale Road produced no formal action; the company was directed to follow the town's solar bylaw checklist and warned to expect staffing-related delays.
