Other Committee · Meeting of March 9, 2026

RUTLAND — The Rutland Development and Industrial Commission voted 4-0 to seek a $25,000 warrant article for cleanup of unsold Heights property. The panel also voted 3-0 to send its proposed committee charge to the Select Board, which plans to vote on a final version March 16. Secretary Mike Sullivan said he was upset after a joint meeting where the commission was "ignored and asked to come, but no input was given" on a town forestry study.

Member Randy Jordan called the Select Board's handling of that meeting "disrespectful." Nancy Ciara, founder of the nonprofit Warrior Kids Safe Harbor, asked the board for help finding one to two acres in Rutland to lease for a dog refuge serving people in crisis. Members also heard that roughly 12 to 20 units are occupied at the Harmony Place development, with eight more closings expected by mid-May.
