BARRE — The Barre Planning Board granted a 30-day extension on a subdivision application, pushing the decision deadline to May 13. Attorney Tom Reedy, representing the applicant, said Graves Engineering's March 24 peer-review comments require new soil, groundwater and percolation testing before the board can act. "We're asking for 30 days to May 13th for that final action," Reedy told the board.
A board member identified as Sam, who said he works on large battery-storage permitting elsewhere, questioned whether the project's environmental review is adequate and raised the property's Chapter 61A agricultural tax status. The board's attorney, referenced as Winner, had previously said 61A is a tax-code issue likely outside Planning Board jurisdiction. The vote to grant the extension passed unanimously.
