The board unanimously committed six sewer betterments totaling $33,750, the largest for a new multi-tenant building at the mall billed at $7,500 per 10,000 square feet. It also abated $207.20 from an Oak Street resident's bill after a leaking outdoor hose ran for two days in September, and discussed forgiving years-overdue Cooper Road betterments left unpaid when the original developer departed.
A department official said Sutton could save "10 to 15 grand a year" once shared sewer costs are trimmed, and the board is weighing a stipend increase from $1,079 to $1,500 per commissioner. Members previewed a $1.7 million Town Meeting request for the Rayburn Drive pump station and roof replacements estimated at $300,000 combined, with formal votes expected next meeting.
