Millbury Select Board ratifies police contract 4-1, ties acting manager's pay to predecessor's rate. The board approved the Millbury Police Department's successor collective bargaining agreement by roll call, with four members in favor and one abstention, after months of negotiation and executive sessions with the union. Members then approved an employment agreement for Acting Town Manager Nicole E.
Valentine, amending the draft so her biweekly rate cannot exceed what the former town manager earned before July 1, a step Valentine requested herself, following her predecessor's decision to decline a scheduled raise. One board member called the move "a very noble approach" given the town's "current fiscal position." Valentine will keep her existing duties as the town's human resources director while serving as acting town manager. The board closed the brief session by thanking Valentine for "stepping up" before adjourning on a unanimous voice vote.
