Millbury advances six new liquor licenses, weighs fire station's future. The Select Board voted unanimously to approve a special act petition, pending state legislative approval, for six additional all-alcohol restaurant licenses tied to the 2026 Annual Town Meeting, split between the town center and the area near the mall. Consultants Amanda Neumiller of MassDevelopment and Ewan Ennis of Ennis Land Strategies Group presented a redevelopment analysis of the vacant 1947 fire station at 126 Elm Street, finding a $1 million to $2 million funding gap to preserve the structurally deficient building and warning that "rehabilitation is really a non-starter" without a historic tax credit.

The board deferred any RFP decision until Town Planner Victor Panik returns from leave. Members also retained Gru and White Consulting to lead the town manager search, appointed Nicole Valentine chief procurement officer, and approved ten routine board and committee reappointments by votes ranging from 3-0 to 5-0.
