Milford Select Board recommends 15-year Waters Corp. tax break
Select Board · Meeting of July 27, 2026
Milford Select Board recommends a 15-year, $3.5 million tax break for Waters Corp.'s $58 million campus overhaul. The board voted unanimously to send the tax increment financing agreement, negotiated under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section 59, to Milford's October special town meeting for final approval. Consultant Lynn Tokarczyk of Business Development Strategies Inc. said the deal would generate more than $23 million for the town over its term while Waters' exemption phases from 95 percent down to 50 percent, telling the board "the town doesn't lose a dime on any of the existing taxes." Waters' Christopher Givner said the investment covers renovations to labs, offices and employee spaces at the company's 700,000-square-foot Milford headquarters, which employs 1,500 people.
The board also transferred the liquor license for the former Sorrento Cafe to new operator Novo Sorrento LLC, approved license amendments for Central Gas and Market Inc. and Noble of Brazil, and cleared a National Grid utility pole petition on West Street.
