Millbury School Committee approves $28 million FY27 budget and a $3.57 million roof contract as deficit looms. The committee voted 5-0 for a $28,020,064 budget, a 4.62 percent increase, while Assistant Superintendent Richard Bedard warned the town's $797,685 deficit demand could force cutting up to 18 positions, calling the impact "devastating." Finance Committee member Jen O'Connell told the board she "could cut $3.9 million" if Millbury matched neighboring Grafton's per-pupil spending, though she called that scenario unrealistic given special-education needs. The committee also voted 5-0 to award GAGE Construction a $3,574,316 contract for the Elmwood Street School roof, under its $6 million budget, and accepted a prequalified bidders list of 75 firms for the larger Jr./Sr.
High School roof project. Chairperson Christopher Wilbur praised Bedard, retiring after 13 years, saying his impact "has been insurmountable."
