Millbury Launches Digital Literacy Help for Seniors, Library Patrons
MILLBURY — The town and the Millbury Public Library both moved to close the digital divide for residents this week, with a new senior-focused online learning program from Town Hall and expanded in-person tech help at the library, as a regional drought advisory and a polling-site update also worked their way through the town's News Flash channel.

Town Hall announced a new partnership with GetSetUp, an online platform that lets older adults take live and on-demand classes alongside other seniors to build digital skills. The program is aimed at Millbury residents looking for a structured, peer-based way to get more comfortable with smartphones, video calls and other everyday technology.
The town clerk's office also posted an update on the polling location for the September state primary, a detail that builds on the early-voting schedule the office announced earlier this week. Residents with questions about where they will vote this fall should check the town's News Flash page directly, as specific location details were not spelled out in the release.
Separately, the town flagged that the Central Region remains at a significant drought level, citing guidance from Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper. Millbury Public Schools sent a reminder to families of the Class of 2032 that the new school year begins in one month, on Wednesday, September 2. The Millbury Public Library rolled out new digital support for patrons this month, including a Saturday drop-in tech help session for residents who need one-on-one assistance with smartphones, printing or downloading e-books. The library is also running AI-focused workshops on Tuesdays in August, alongside sessions on Microsoft Office and other everyday technology, staffed by the library's "Digital Navigators."
The library has also posted a new media-literacy guide on spotting AI-generated photos, walking readers through tells like distorted hands, mismatched lighting and overly smooth skin, as part of its ongoing push on media bias and reliability.
