Millbury Finance Committee trims deficit to $606,000, holds off on budget vote. Chief Financial Officer Katie McKenna told the committee a reclassification of Warren Street pump station debt costs cut the projected gap from $800,000, after the town already cut $313,000 and asked schools to absorb $490,000 in reductions. The committee unanimously approved an $18,750 reserve fund transfer for the Payroll Benefits Coordinator account and discussed redirecting roughly $164,000 in cannabis excise revenue out of stabilization funds via a special town meeting requiring a two-thirds vote.

"I think we should be making that decision, not having it happen automatically," McKenna said of the cannabis funds. Member Russell L. Wells Sr. asked what "plan B" would be if that vote fails.

No vote was taken on the full budget and warrant; the committee plans to reconvene March 18.
