Milford High School Building Committee Drops Two Site Options, Eyes 2031 Occupancy

MILFORD — May 6, 2026 — Milford High School Building Committee votes to cut two site options and debates the pool's future. The committee eliminated Option C, a complex academic-wing add-renovation, and Option G, a practice-fields build, at its May 6 meeting, leaving five options for further study as the project moves toward a critical June 3 vote on which configurations advance to the MSBA's Preliminary Design Program. The committee approved a warrant of $117,222.22 — $20,000 for the Owner's Project Manager and $97,222.22 for designer HMFH Architects — unanimously. Options E and F, both largely new construction placing the high school on the campus's southern end with projected full occupancy in 2031 or 2032 respectively, emerged as the leading candidates. The committee's most extended debate centered on the existing competitive pool, which the MSBA will not fund as new construction; members agreed any replacement pool must be presented to town meeting as a single package with the school project and that the framing should be "replacing" the pool, not building a new one. Cost estimates for all remaining options arrive at the May 20 working group meeting.
