Mendon Select Board keeps Cemetery Street one-way through a multi-month culvert closure. Chair Michael Merolli and Vice Chair Alejna Brugos voted unanimously against a temporary two-way conversion after police, fire and the town's engineering firm, Tighe & Bond, warned of an unrated 1955 bridge, blind curves and doubled traffic. "It's just not safe.

It's not cost effective," Merolli said. The two-way option was estimated at $212,000 to $237,000; the $2.5 million Providence Street culvert project is funded through grants, capital stabilization and free cash with no debt exclusion. The board's motion requires a finalized bus-detour agreement with the Mendon-Upton Regional School District by June 15, 2026, or the matter returns to the board.

The board also recertified its $27,759,442.97 general fund budget after a prior clerical error.
