Mendon library trustees recommend $29.55 rate for staffer

Library · Meeting of April 15, 2026

Mendon library trustees back a higher starting rate for their children's librarian ahead of union talks. The board voted unanimously to recommend the town's negotiator raise the proposed FY27 hourly rate to $29.55, days before an April 15 union bargaining session, as the longtime staffer, 13 years in the role, moves toward joining the Town Hall employees' union. Library Director Andrew said the original three-year schedule, which totaled a 15.9 percent cumulative raise, undervalued her added duties covering adult programming and filling in as acting assistant director.

Trustees also reviewed a March budget showing $24,408 spent, 71.3 percent of the year's total against a roughly 75 percent benchmark, and agreed to a three-month trial of a pop-up pet food pantry proposed by outreach worker Janice Muldoon Moore.
