Mendon Conservation Board Backs Eagle Scout Trail Signage Plan

Mendon Conservation Commission clears Eagle Scout trail project, extends logging enforcement deadline. Chaired by Bob Sweet, the board voted unanimously to let 15-year-old Life Scout Cameron Hood proceed with a roughly $600 trail-signage and kiosk project at Inman Hill Wildlife Conservation Area, targeted for installation in July and August 2026. Separately, wetlands consultant DeShang, hired by a property owner under an enforcement order for unpermitted logging on Washington Street, said "I'm hired by the applicant.

I'm not hired by the town. I want to be neutral," while reporting a possible vernal pool on site. The board voted to let stacked logs be removed under machinery restrictions and pushed DeShang's full wetland-impact report to the May 14 meeting on a 7-0 vote.

Members also chose Beals and Thomas, 3-0 with one abstention, for a stormwater-regulation peer review.
