Auburn Conservation Commission closes Rockland Road hearing, orders conditions by April 8

AUBURN — March 25, 2026 — Auburn Conservation Commission closes a nearly three-year public hearing on a Rockland Road wetlands case. The commission voted 5 to 0 Wednesday to close the public hearing on a Notice of Intent filed by Michael Marinis of InSite Engineering for commercial and industrial renovations at 47 and 49 Rockland Road, which abut Kettle Brook, and set an April 8 deadline to issue an Order of Conditions. Chair Michael Garland told assembled neighbors that closing the hearing ended their ability to submit further comment or evidence, saying of future enforcement concerns, "That's something we'll have to take up with the commission — and I'm not going to do that tonight." The board also voted 5 to 0 to indefinitely remove a cemetery construction application at 0 Cemetery Road from its active agenda while awaiting a DEP audit letter, and issued a Certificate of Compliance for 330 Leicester Street following a Garland site visit. Assistant Town Manager Paul Dell'Aquila announced a Land Use Coordinator had been hired and would start April 6 — a position vacant throughout much of the Rockland Road proceeding.
