Mendon Board of Health approves septic fix, votes 3-0 to raise dumpster fines. The board unanimously approved a Title V upgrade at 17 Hartford Avenue West and adopted revised dumpster regulations raising violation fines from $25-$75 up to $50-$200, effective immediately. Health Administrator Jack McLellan presented a fiscal year 2027 budget proposal showing the board's operating budget rising 7 percent to $56,625 and the town's waste collection enterprise budget rising 4 percent to $733,800.

The board also renewed its Visiting Nurse Association contract despite the nurse's hourly rate jumping from $75 to $120, and discussed creating a reserve fund, capped near $5,000, to redirect roughly $3,000 in annual tobacco and food-inspection fines toward public education instead of the general fund. "So that's my reasoning for raising it from $5,000 to $8,000," McLellan said of the animal inspector budget line.
