Lunenburg Select Board assigns police officer to oversee Saturday's annual town election

LUNENBURG — May 12, 2026 — Lunenburg Select Board sidelines elected constable over override politics, assigns police officer for Saturday election. The board voted unanimously Tuesday, May 12 to assign a police officer rather than the town's elected constable to the May 16 annual town election, citing the constable's visible public statements on the Proposition 2½ override — including what member Amanda Emke called "R-rated language" on one occasion and an appearance at town meeting in his constable uniform. Member Glenn McLeod said the conduct fell short of the standard expected of "elected positions that oversee elections."
