Worcester License Commission approved a change of manager at the renamed Casablanca Restaurant and Lounge after police flagged an unauthorized party. Sergeant Thomas Needham told commissioners the Water Street venue had promoted a "back-to-school event from 10 at night till 2 in the morning" without the required 14-day police notice. Chair Anthony Giardi approved the change on a 3-0 roll call, Commissioners Maritza Cruz and Charlotte Fisher concurring, but required uniform 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. hours and a written under-21 identification plan within 30 days.
The board separately approved a new all-alcohol and entertainment license for Worcester Vice LLC, a nightclub catering to the gay community at 27 Pleasant Street, with outdoor amplified sound capped at midnight. Commissioners cleared roughly 30 total license items, including five new chicken and takeout restaurants and a 16-bedroom WPI student lodging house at 8 Elbridge Street.
