Mendon library trustees warn a facilities-budget shift could put state accreditation at risk. The Board of Library Trustees unanimously approved February's minutes and a new staff contract, while flagging that moving building-maintenance costs to the town's facilities department "can't be disproportionate to a cut anywhere else in the budget." February spending totaled $23,494, with the library saving $640 by switching HVAC vendors on a roughly $2,200 repair. Trustees also revisited a two-year-old push to name the 18 Main Street annex for former librarian Lorna Rhodes, saying a Select Board member's recent email wrongly folded in an unrelated proposal to rename the current library building.

The director said state aid cannot legally fund a maintenance study of the town-owned annex.
