Hubbardston Select Board Awards $32,625 Accounting Contract, Swears In New Officer

HUBBARDSTON — March 2, 2026 — Hubbardston Select Board approves $32,625 accounting contract and swears in new police officer. The board voted at its March 2 meeting to award a phased financial reconciliation contract to consultant Marsha Bohank — the only responsive bidder — covering four reconciliation phases at $100 per hour totaling $18,000 and a fifth transitional phase at $75 per hour totaling $14,625, for a combined $32,625 designed to carry the town through the end of fiscal year 2026. Officer Zachary Wright, a six-month academy graduate also serving in the Army National Guard, was sworn in at the meeting's opening. The board also heard that the Williamsville Road bridge closure, expected to last through approximately August 2027, began the following day with logging trucks and farm vehicles set to use the narrow Cruz Road and Thompson Road detour. Board member Kris Pareago, co-chair of the Central Mass Regional 911 Dispatch District's board of directors, disclosed that the five founding towns face an imminent cost increase as the district separates from Rutland's budget, and flagged one dispatcher salary increase of 16.1 percent, calling the pace of expansion "moving too quick."
