Grafton ZBA Continues 200-Unit Snow Road Case to May

Grafton's Zoning Board of Appeals continued its review of a 200-unit Chapter 40B project on Snow Road to May 6, still withholding building permits until an off-site intersection is fixed. Vice Chairman William McCusker chaired the roughly three-and-a-half-hour hearing, where John Grenier of J.M. Grenier Associates presented a corrected 200-unit plan, down from an original 300, with a parking ratio of 2.18 spaces per unit.

Graves Engineering's Jeff Walsh reported the project's stormwater system achieves nearly 98 percent removal of pollutants, exceeding the state's 80 percent standard. Attorney Jason Panos asked the board to let building permits proceed once a state highway permit is filed rather than waiting for construction of the Snow Road and Worcester Street intersection; Chairman Brian Waller said, "There's no way in heck we're gonna be able to say no, right?" and the board held firm on its sequencing condition. Members voted 5-0 twice, first to extend the meeting past its 10 p.m. curfew, then to continue the case.
