Select Board · Meeting of May 26, 2026

Grafton Select Board unanimously reappoints Jefferson as chair and approves a $5.9 million road reconstruction contract. The board reorganized Monday with newly elected members Colleen Roy appointed vice chair and Victoria Duckworth appointed clerk, both unanimously. The board approved a $5.9 million contract with J.H.

Lynch and Sons for the long-awaited George Hill Road Reconstruction Project, with mobilization set for June 8, and a separate $481,000 Pine Street and Route 30 intersection contract with Morse Engineering and Construction Industries, funded entirely by UPS as a planning board condition. Town Moderator Dawn Anderson delivered an extended public comment defending operations at the May 11 Town Meeting, where more than 1,100 voters appeared, a figure that overwhelmed the 1,000 electronic handsets on hand, saying "we didn't fail at bat, we just found out our outreach can pitch better than we ever dreamed." Staff announced two immediate corrective measures: voter wristbands and a designated visitor section for future large-turnout meetings, with full gymnasium setup estimated at $10,000 per occurrence. Accessibility Advisory Commission Chair Roger Trahan urged the public to fill three open seats, warning the town risks losing access to a $7 million-plus statewide ADA grant pool if the commission cannot maintain a quorum.
