Fitchburg Finance Committee Approves $600,000 Affordable Housing Grant Agreement With Dane County
Finance Committee · Meeting of August 11, 2026
Fitchburg Finance Committee approves $600,000 Dane County housing grant agreement and five other resolutions. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to accept a Community Development Block Grant PRO Housing award from Dane County, with a staff presenter saying the funds could offset infrastructure costs for a development project bringing "workforce housing or affordable housing to the city," with a stated goal of expanding single-family ownership opportunities. The committee also unanimously approved a one-year pause of the city's Healthy Neighborhood Grants program, with $20,000 going to each of four previously funded food pantries in 2027 for a total of $80,000, down from $120,000 this year and $140,000 two years ago.
Three additional resolutions passed without dissent: a $71,802.50 tree-clearing contract with Homer Tree Services for Fitzrona Road, a roughly $10,000 replacement of two rotted, non-ADA-compliant exterior doors at fire headquarters on Lacey Road ahead of the November election, and a park fee fund budget amendment to fund shelter, sidewalk, and drinking fountain improvements at a park off Frizzy Drive and Spinach Drive.
