A staff member identified as Heather clarified that only about $300,000 of remaining free cash could backstop any floor amendment, making a full alternative motion to restore public safety funding of $980,000 mathematically impossible from that source.

The committee voted unanimously to authorize Member Carol Benoit to draft a 250-copy town meeting handout incorporating budget slides and personnel impact data, due to Administrative Assistant Tomeca Murphy by 4 p.m. Friday. Paxton, the other district member town, has already voted down the school budget once, tightening the stakes for Rutland's vote.
