Crompton Park Pool To Stay Open Through Aug. 29

Crompton Park Pool, the city's only municipal pool, will stay open through Aug. 29, a week longer than originally planned, the city announced this week as it also adjusts closing dates for area beaches and spray parks.

TOWN HALL

The city confirmed that Crompton Park Pool will remain open until Aug. 29 rather than closing on its original late-summer date, giving Worcester swimmers extra weeks of access before the season ends. Worcester Patch, in its own report headlined "Worcester Pool To Remain Open Longer This Summer," also covered the extension today, noting that city beaches and spray parks are following their own staggered closing schedule this month (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/worcester/worcester-pool-remain-open-longer-summer).

SCHOOLS

Worcester Public Schools this week clarified how its lottery, neighborhood zones, transfers and special-education placements decide where children attend preschool and kindergarten, an update to the ongoing Nelson Place boundary conversation, according to The Worcester Guardian's "Worcester schools clarify kindergarten placement rules amid Nelson Place concerns." Families can appeal both voluntary-transfer and special-education placement decisions, per that report.
