Conservation Commission Orders Nine Trees Planted at Pine Street Riverfront Site

DOUGLAS — June 1, 2026 — Douglas Conservation Commission orders nine-tree restoration planting at Pine Street property after riverfront violation. The commission voted 4-1 at its June 1 meeting to require the owner of 106 Pine Street to plant six red maple trees on the south side of the property and three oaks near Pine Street after a site inspection showed work had extended beyond the approved limit into the 200-foot riverfront protection area of Baiting Brook; Conservation Agent Brendan Doyle said the requirement would be enforced at the time of certificate of compliance. The commission also voted unanimously to issue a certificate of compliance for a completed PFAS remediation at 120 Gilboa Street after Gary Magnuson of CMG Environmental presented photographs confirming site restoration, noting the full MassDEP closure document ran to 1,633 pages. In a separate 5-0 vote, the board recommended Marcy LeBlanc, a Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry employee, as an associate member, subject to Select Board appointment. Member Jim Foyne, who opposed the Pine Street vote, was the sole dissent.
