Conservation board approves Southwest Cutoff project with wetland condition

Millbury Conservation Commission approves Southwest Cutoff redevelopment, ties it to wetland cleanup. Commissioners voted 5-0 to close the hearing and approve a Notice of Intent from McCarty Engineering's John Plifka for 333-337 Southwest Cutoff, after Chairperson Ronald Stead said the board needed to hold "the proponents" accountable for cleaning up trash in the adjacent wetland. A 23 Ramshorn Road home application was continued to May 20 after commissioners said it still lacked a clear narrative on stormwater and fill near the pond.

The commission also voted to reimburse the Nature Trails Committee $1,612.23 for repairs to its 1972 golf cart, more than the $1,000 requested, with Stead telling chairman Bruce DeVault, "you should have asked for the whole 1,600." Agent Donald Flynn reported Ramshorn Pond remains below normal levels after a DPW gate-closure request went unmet in March.
