Conservation board approves Blanchard Drive garage and ADU
Conservation · Meeting of February 4, 2026
Millbury Conservation Commission approves backyard ADU, punts Lake Singletary fight to March. The board unanimously issued an Order of Conditions for a roughly 1,440-square-foot detached garage and accessory dwelling unit at 3 Blanchard Drive after engineer Norman Hill said the project would not alter bordering vegetated wetland. Commissioners also continued a contested Notice of Intent for a Lake Singletary aquatic-weed treatment program to March 4, after the state Department of Environmental Protection appealed a similar order issued to neighboring Sutton.
Conservation Agent Donald Flynn said the sticking point is likely the program's winter drawdown, warning "there's a big die off all around the zone of drawdown of invertebrates." Clerk Paul DiCicco countered that the drawdown method "has been going on for many, many years, maybe over 20 years." The board also voted 3-2 to approve its November 5, 2025 minutes, with two members abstaining for absence.
