Auburn Conservation Commission Continues Two Hearings, Grants Violet Avenue Order Extension

AUBURN — February 11, 2026 — Auburn Conservation Commission continues drainage hearing, grants residential order extension. The commission voted unanimously at its February 11 meeting to continue the public hearing for a proposed subsurface gravel wetland project at 15 Hart Scrabble Road to February 25, after members said they had not yet received a third-party review letter from Graves Engineering that arrived too late to be included in meeting packets. Robert Walsh of Walsh Engineering told the board the project would increase on-site detention volume from roughly 23,760 cubic feet to 33,281 cubic feet, a 28.5 percent gain, and summarized outstanding DPW comments including concerns about an emergency spillway discharging onto Hart Scrabble Road, phosphorus standards, and the need for town easements for a discharge pipe crossing. The commission also unanimously granted an extension of an order of conditions for 31 Violet Avenue after Robert Duff of McCleor Engineering reported the property had changed hands in August 2025 and the new owner had already begun site work. A separate matter at 464 Lester Street — involving dumpsters and gravel millings placed near a stream corridor — was informally carried to March 25 pending a site inspection once snow melts.
