Clinton High School Named School of Recognition

School Committee · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Clinton High School earns "School of Recognition" status as its state accountability percentile jumps from 22nd to 33rd. Superintendent Dr. Meyer told the School Committee the gain amounts to roughly a 50 percent improvement, while Clinton Elementary School remained the district's top performer at a 40 percent accountability percentile.

Meyer also reported enrollment is down three students districtwide and warned the Finance Committee that this year's Chapter 70 state aid increase will be smaller than in recent years now that Student Opportunity Act funding has finished phasing in. A PTA fundraiser at Clinton Elementary brought in $29,446 with 62 percent of students registered, short of its goal but, in the PTA's words, "still a great amount of money in a very short amount of time." Fall athletic participation held steady at 265 student athletes, which Meyer credited partly to the district's lack of user fees: "It's not like we're asking a family to come up with $200 or $100 for you to try."
