RUTLAND — The Rutland Town Charter Committee voted unanimously to keep its draft charter's $1,000 settlement-authorization cap and three-year planning board terms unchanged. Members, working through resident feedback including a letter from Police Chief Monaco and a four-page letter from resident Erin McClintock, confirmed a 50-voter quorum for both annual town meetings and 30 for special meetings, and set the November meeting for the third Thursday of the month. Committee member Michelle told resident Jean during public comment that "these are the things that the charter can say versus what the state law says" regarding limits on overriding state law.
The committee's joint session with the Select Board was pushed from March 16 to March 30 due to a crowded agenda, with a committee meeting set for April 1 to finalize the draft.
