Charlton Board of Health Tables Rawson Materials Blasting Discussion Until July

CHARLTON — June 23, 2026 — Charlton Board of Health tables Rawson Materials blasting discussion, citing the company's absence. The board voted to defer the new agenda item — involving material tracking into a public street and a DEP investigation — after chair noted that neither Rawson Materials nor the DEP had been invited to the June 23 session, making substantive discussion improper. Health Director Jim Philbrook will contact Rawson's attorney, send an informational notice to DEP contact Michelle Demmer, and invite Fire Chief Barton, who had already requested to address the board on related blasting concerns; the full hearing is set for July 21. Separately, Philbrook reported that cover membrane — roughly 20 to 30 large rolls — was delivered to the Flint Road Landfill the day before the meeting, and that project representative Gary has been asked to attend July 21 for an update. The board also confirmed a signed clean and lean agreement with property owner Aubrey White, whose accumulated vehicles and equipment will be cataloged, appraised, and auctioned to offset a town lien.
