BERLIN — The Cemetery Commission backed a Legion Auxiliary plan for veterans flags at the old cemetery. An Auxiliary representative, identified as Mrs. Seed, proposed $25 personalized flags, modeled on a program in Clinton, to be displayed the weekend before Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The Auxiliary would order, place and remove them, and any Berlin family with a veteran, living or deceased, could take part.
Members spoke in support and said they would start at the center cemetery, though no formal vote was recorded. The commission also approved prior minutes and adjourned, both 2-0, with Superintendent Robert H. Guild, Jr. absent. Members also discussed an unmarked World War II veteran's grave in South Berlin that still lacks a marker.
