BERLIN — The Berlin Cemetery Commission worked on its annual report and discussed green burials. Commissioners said the South Cemetery driveway remained unfinished under what was meant to be a three-year contract, and they were unsure whether it was still open. A recap of the December meeting noted a 3-0 vote to keep the fiscal 2026 budget level at $16,054.
A member said Berlin has "no regulations" on green burials, and commissioners pointed to the Board of Health and state rules on well distances. The superintendent's bill included two burials, one with an extra $100 for digging through frost. The commission approved the December minutes by voice vote and planned to return to green burials in February.
