Board grants one sewer abatement, denies another

Select Board · Meeting of August 19, 2026

West Boylston Select Board splits 3-2 on a sewer bill abatement, denies a second. Acting as sewer commissioners, the board granted relief for a frozen-pipe leak at 113 Hillside Village Drive over a DPW recommendation to deny it, with Vice Chair David Ashwell arguing the water "never made it to the sewer." Members Christina Pedoni and Chair Vanessa Kuzmanovski dissented, with one calling favorable treatment of the 55-and-over property "age discrimination all day." A second request, for a 30-year-old water heater leak at 148 Goodale Street that ran from November through March, failed 0-5. The board also set October 19 at 6 p.m. for fall town meeting, with a September 25 warrant deadline, and advanced a roughly $4,500 school-area sign order while opening debate on making a 20 mph school safety zone permanent.
