Board adopts purchase order policy, extends freeze
Select Board · Meeting of September 2, 2026
West Brookfield Select Board adopts centralized purchase order policy and extends its budget freeze. Town Administrator Theresa told the board the town's financial team has collected over $202,000 in delinquent taxes this year, up more than $78,000 from fiscal 2025, and added $163,000 in previously untaxed property value through a new assessing contract. The board approved a $9,009 reserve fund transfer after Theresa disclosed she had missed an insurance line item while building the fiscal 2027 budget, saying "it's not comfortable to fall on the sword, but I'm the one that made the error." Members tabled a 29-day special liquor license request from Ragged Hill Cider Company until September 15 after a board member questioned why the business did not seek a full liquor license instead.
The board also approved two new police department policies and seated newly elected member Jordan Brooks, congratulating him on his win over Alan Rose a day earlier.
