Auburn Planning Board Elects Asirifi Chair, Approves Fire Station Site Plan

AUBURN — January 13, 2026 — Auburn Planning Board approves Prospect Street fire station site plan and reorganizes leadership. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the site plan submitted by Fuss and O'Neill for a new fire station at 10 Prospect Street, clearing the way for the project to advertise for bids January 30 with a projected construction start of mid-April and a 16-month completion target of October 2027. Engineer Scott Turner said Graves Engineering had signaled satisfaction with revised plans, and Deputy Fire Chief Glenn Johnson confirmed a rear access road near Duncan's Park would remain unchanged and serve only as emergency egress. The board then reorganized, with member Jason Asirifi elected chair by roll-call vote and former Chair Ronald E. Brooks elected vice chair. Town Planner Paul Bernard said a request to elevate alternate member John to a full voting seat would be forwarded to the town manager. A site plan modification for Quality Contracting, which failed to appear for the fourth or more consecutive meeting, was continued to January 27.
