Auburn Conservation Commission Issues Orders for Fire Station, South Street Projects

AUBURN — January 14, 2026 — Auburn Conservation Commission issues wetlands orders for new fire station and South Street project. The commission, chaired by Michael Garland, closed hearings and voted unanimously to issue orders of conditions for the Auburn Fire Rescue Headquarters complex at 10 Prospect Street and for a residential project at 320 South Street. Engineer Scott Turner of Fuss and O'Neal told the commission that peer reviewer Graves Engineering had signed off on all responses and that the Planning Board had granted site plan approval the night before, with the project targeting a bid advertisement date of January 30. A cemetery and landfill-capping project at Zero Cemetery Road was continued to January 28, pending a MassDEP audit letter, while a gravel-wetland drainage project at 15 Scrabble Road was also pushed to the 28th after the applicant disclosed a previously unmapped pathway would require plan revisions. The commission also ratified Garland's emergency authorization to breach a beaver dam that was flooding an abutting property, and members were briefed on a National Grid transmission infrastructure project estimated at approximately $890 million, with a notice of intent to the commission expected no earlier than the third quarter of 2026.
