Auburn Conservation Commission confirms emergency erosion order against Route 20 storage facility

AUBURN — March 11, 2026 — Auburn Conservation Commission issues emergency erosion order against Washington Street storage facility. The commission voted unanimously at its March 11 meeting to confirm an emergency enforcement order against a storage facility under construction at the intersection of Washington Street and Old Common Road, after Commissioner Michelle Koras photographed active erosion on site while driving past on Route 20. Chairman Michael Garland, who said a similar issue arose at the same site last April, directed staff member Paul Delquilla to serve the order the following morning. The commission also continued a long-running public hearing for 47 and 49 Rockland Road to March 25, with engineer Michael Marinus of Insight Engineering agreeing to deliver a final revised plan by roughly March 18 to meet the commission's one-week submission rule; Garland told the applicant's attorney, Todd Broer of Fletcher Tilton, that an order of conditions would require a guardrail meeting MassDOT Construction Standard Section 600 specifications. Delquilla said the town was close to making a job offer to replace departed land use coordinator Mr. Fallon, after conducting several candidate interviews alongside Director of Inspection Services Darlene Coy.
